Our Two Years Part 3

Dear Lovely Hastakon,
You must tell me more about this man. Given your usual proclivities, I assume this man was blue-skinned – and an engineer, you say? Very technically minded and good with his hands. I must say our next brunch you must tell me more.
Onto the more pressing matter – A Lurian Harrun?! Combat with the Kingdom within 6 months’ travel of our borders? I know skirmishes aren’t unheard of, but to so willingly engage in radiant-on-radiant violence is unheard of. Could this be why the Empire sent Fleet Captain Rorin and her task force to Titus? I assumed Vaega made the request wanting her old friend back for some bizarre reason, but this is much more troubling. Perhaps I should look for spots on Sellonae for my next assignment.
Well fair is fair, you’ve told me about your trials and tribulations – let me tell you about mine. If you thought year 1 was bad, wait till you hear about year 2.
Have you heard of the Mercenary Contractors known as the Harbingers? Those crazies who try and force spark events by striking at towns? Well, let me tell you they struck right through the local village and then attacked Starfall – Thankfully, they were stopped by the Masters and Knights. I was up top with a blaster covering the absolutely noble Cendarro from afar – how the mercenaries and drones ran from him! Tragedy struck that night, however! The Venefari Knight Bo (known for his own affinity for the blaster – I am sure you’ve heard the infamous tale told throughout the galaxy – I believe they even made a movie about it) was struck down in the village while on defense with Kang, Vray, Kai’fu, and Garok. Vray, in a rare moment of intelligence, channeled his Light to increase his strength and stamina and carry Bo’s body back so true healers could take over and heal them both. Kang and Garok mounted a fighting retreat and slew many. Kai’fu stayed behind to coordinate civilian evacuation until the legions could show up.
I later witnessed a Kang breaking down comforted by Qain and Cendarro. I know being mentored and coached by such heroes of the Rebellion truly inspired her to rally. I think Kang has a Mastership in her future if I am being honest.
I would like to make a quick note to you, my friend. The most heartbreaking luck was that a number of the villagers were at our school for a hammerball game (you’re surely thinking what I am thinking – I’ll get to it later) when the attack occurred and were cut off from their families. The students did their best to reassure them, and I must say it was quite touching. Though some of the villagers voiced some of the most striking anti-imperialist thoughts. I believe the phrase “If you can’t protect us when stuff like this comes to our front door, what do we need you for? What good are you?” was uttered. Truly ungrateful, and I am worried about the state of the Empire if such thoughts are being spoken.
The Harbingers are smart, though. The day before, they used a bioweapon from Lurian space called the “Crawling Corpse” – a type of parasitic fungus that can violently reanimate recently deceased organisms as a means to spread its spores across the galaxy (imagine what it would do for Acolyte Marissa’s lovelife? Perhaps she’d finally start fulfilling the Medicari’s equipment purchase orders). This was discovered when strange goings-on were discovered in the tunnels. Garok attempted to lead a charge on his own (the man is a strong himbo of a Rikkan, or is he a Tallunian?) to clear the tunnels, but was overwhelmed. Vray, in his (so-called) infinite wisdom- plotted secret missions to scout and research the infection. I have steaming tea that this was started by his inability to contain patient zero in the Unseen Hospital (How did he get his Master’s robes?).
Well after the cure was discovered, Master Qain, and Master Vray both ordered their sects to quickly respond to the threat. My understanding is that they stood back as the students rushed in to stop the threat – truly I don’t understand how I am cursed to be here. You know Lurian attacks on the border? Lurian bioweapons in Imperial space. You don’t think? Could it be?
Well those are the two big moments – and I must say this class of students put ours to shame. I just wish they dressed a little better. Let me give you some other highlights of the year with a little commentary
-Crais returned to investigate and interrogate the Venefari for some reason. Light only knows what Master “Coach” Halloran is cooking up in the meditation chamber.
-I believe Crais also hoped oversee a trial of some sort?
-The Vindori students had some sort of archaic formulas on the whiteboard. Knight Ly’sar and I inspected it and believe it to be some form of conspiracy theory. These students need guidance – I must tell Cendarro about such disobedience. Perhaps the Grandmaster’s esotericism has gone too unchecked around those not yet prepared for such power.
-I heard massive groans and yells from a Ouiori class one day and later heard from a Ouiori acolyte that it had something to do with fried eggs? I will never understand that sect.
-The clinic became overrun by a mass of yellow and purple. These “Experimental Type” Masters and Knights (Cendarro was not there of course) had led their students to some sort of culling against the wolves and grodur (a type of native poison creature). The students clearly were ill-prepared and were severely wounded. As you know, form 3131A-Student Injury has to be filed in triplicate with both IRAS and The Guardian Order, that was three times around 60 students times two organizations. I had a whole bottle of wine while reading “If There’s No Radiance on Toa, I’m Not Going” – do recommend by the way, great read.
-Terli constantly blasting in the dorms.
-That creature that the strange Ouiori acolyte cares for had an egg. Truly my job is full of wonder that we will have to deal with two of them at some point.
-I truly believe Stav is the only sane staff member
Let me finish with Hammerball. Yes, you heard it right, the Grandmaster allowed Halloran to start a Hammerball team here. In what galaxy do we allow such a barbaric practice on hallowed grounds?! Also, would you believe that Cendarro joined in? I nearly fainted. His heart for the students is so unmatched he would lower himself. Also, Vray allegedly played the sport in college(unsurprising for the brute) but mounts some sort of facade against it. He was allegedly convinced by Cendarro and Halloran to join the team along with a group of ardent students? What insanity is this?! Some sort of deal was struck between the Medicari and Vindori as a result of Hammerball – I am told it involves a lifetime supply of coffee and representation?
I need to get off this planet. I’m even willing to sign up to serve the corporation on Wari if it means more logic and stability.
My friend, I must depart I still need to finish filing these notices of Masterhood for one of the knights who is being promoted. Also, I should peek my head out of my office I hear the fifth shout of “BY THE LIGHT, KANG, I TOLD YOU”
In the Light,
Acolyte Keef
